Frank Onyeka Completes Permanent Move from Brentford to Coventry City

Nigeria international midfielder Frank Onyeka has completed a permanent transfer from Brentford F.C. to Coventry City F.C. after helping the Sky Blues secure promotion to the Premier League.

Onyeka initially joined Coventry City on loan during the second half of the 2025/26 season. The loan agreement included an obligation to buy if Coventry earned promotion to the Premier League. After winning promotion, the clause was automatically activated, making the transfer permanent.

The transfer fee has not been officially disclosed by either Brentford or Coventry City. While some reports have suggested a fee of around €7 million, neither club has confirmed that figure, so the official fee remains undisclosed

During his time at Brentford, Onyeka made 87 appearances in all competitions after joining from FC Midtjylland in 2021. He was part of Brentford’s Premier League squad for five seasons and also spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at FC Augsburg before returning to England.

The 28-year-old played a key role during his loan spell at Coventry City, making 14 league appearances and helping the club win the Championship title and secure promotion back to the Premier League. His performances convinced the club to complete the permanent signing.
