Jérémy Jacquet Completes Transfer from Stade Rennais to Liverpool FC

Liverpool have officially completed the signing of French centre-back Jérémy Jacquet from Stade Rennais FC in one of the biggest defensive transfers of the 2026 summer window. The 20-year-old defender joins the Premier League club after months of negotiations and is regarded as one of the brightest young defenders in European football.

How the Deal Happened

Liverpool secured an agreement for Jacquet earlier in the year after beating interest from several top European clubs, including Chelsea and Bayern Munich. As part of the agreement, he remained at Rennes until the end of the 2025/26 season before officially completing his move to Anfield on 1 July 2026. 

Why Liverpool Signed Him

Liverpool see Jacquet as a long-term defensive leader. The French Under-21 international impressed with his strength, composure on the ball, aerial ability, and maturity despite his young age. He is expected to strengthen Liverpool’s defence following the departure of Ibrahima Konaté.
