1. What W1/W2 Means
In football (soccer) betting, W1/W2 is a type of double chance bet. It’s slightly different from the regular “1X2” bet.
- W1 = Home team wins at any time (this usually includes regular time only, but some bookmakers include extra time depending on the bet).
- W2 = Away team wins at any time (same rules apply).
Important: In some contexts, W1/W2 can also mean which team will win during the rest of the match if the game is already in progress (live betting). Always check your bookmaker’s definition.
2. How It Works
- W1 → Bet that the home team will win.
- W2 → Bet that the away team will win.
Unlike 1X2, there is no option for a draw here. If the game ends in a draw, your bet loses.

- You bet W2 (Chelsea to win the rest of the match)
- Outcome: Liverpool 2 – 2 Chelsea → You lose (Chelsea didn’t score more than Liverpool in remaining time)
- Outcome: Liverpool 2 – 3 Chelsea → You win
4. Betting Tips for W1/W2
- Check team form – Look at recent wins and losses for home and away teams. W1/W2 bets can be safer if one team is dominating.
- Home advantage matters – W1 is often a stronger pick when the home team has a high win percentage.
- Use live stats – If betting W1/W2 during a match, track which team is controlling possession, shots, and momentum.
- Avoid risky draws – If both teams are evenly matched and draws are common, W1/W2 can be risky since you lose if it’s a draw.
